Background

Citizen Litt-R-BUG-1 was issued with two items. A Mutant Detector and a box of assorted grenades. The mutant detector was basically a box with a red light and a needle on it (a compass-type needle, not an injection-type needle). When a mutant was close by, the light would come on and the needle would point at them.

Of course, invariably the needle just span around continuously, or pointed at a random character. But since everybody was a mutant, who's to say whether it works or not?

Notice how the citizen states that the equipment worked as he expected, then says that it couldn't be used a second time because it went wrong. This sort of thing is useful during debriefings.
